"The following expands and clarifies the doctrinal foundation found in FM 3-06 and JP 3-06 for Intelligence
Support to Operations in the Urban Environment.
• Incorporates intelligence and operational doctrine and terminology from FM 3-06 and
FM 3-06.11.
• Provides intelligence professionals a basic framework within which to focus on providing
commanders with effective intelligence support for their operations in the urban environment.
This manual is designed primarily for the intelligence staffs and soldiers of units conducting intelligence
support to operations in the urban environment. It can also be used by commanders, staffs, and intelligence
personnel at all echelons, and applies equally to the Active Army, the Army National Guard/Army National
Guard of the United States, and the United States Army Reserve unless otherwise stated.
US Training and Doctrine Command is the proponent for this publication. The preparing agency is the US
